Help:Adding A New Page

From REALbasicWiki

Jump to: navigation, search

If you want to add a new page to this wiki, do not start editing the pages listed on the main page, as they're meta pages generated automatically from categories that are assigned inside articles.

Instead, to add a new page, start with writing the page, then add the appropriate cagegories to make the page appear in the pages below.

To add a new page simply enter the desired page title in the search box on the left and klick on Go. The wiki will then tell you that this page does not exist yet (and replace the blanks with "_"). Click on the create this page link to edit the page and start entering your text.

Note: If you add a page that describes a 3rd party class, method, plugin or other entity with a name describing its functionality, you need to be aware that others may want to add their own such items, and those may use the same name. For instance, there are several 3rd party modules all named "Utility". So, in order to avoid that one developer creates a page for its own Utility module named "Utility" while others then have to see how they name their version, we like everyone to use the wiki namespaces for this. This means: You shall prefix your page name with your user name, in the form User:un:pn where "un" is your user name and "pn" your desired page name. For instance, if I, Tempel, would add a page about my Utility module, I'd create a page named User:Tempel:Utility.

At the end of the page, add categories in the form

[[Category: Name]]

where "Name" is one of the categories listed here.

Once you save your text, it will appear in the chosen categories.
